Engineered to perform

Window film is a thin, precision laminate that changes how sunlight passes through glass. Here is what each layer and measurement means.

Nano ceramic technology

Performance without metal.

Ceramic window films use non-metallic ceramic particles dispersed through the film instead of metallised layers. Without metal in the construction, they avoid the mirrored look of metallised films.

Infrared heat rejection

The heat you feel, filtered.

Infrared radiation, at wavelengths beyond about 780 nm, is invisible but carries much of the sun’s heat. Films engineered to reject infrared reduce heat build-up behind the glass without needing to be dark.

IR rejection figures are always quoted over a wavelength range. Check the range on the data sheet before comparing films.

UV protection

Invisible light, visible damage.

Ultraviolet light, below 380 nm, can’t be seen. It contributes to the fading of upholstery, flooring and furnishings, and to skin exposure through glass.

Optical clarity

A true view through the glass.

Clarity describes how faithful the view through a film is: low haze, no distortion and no visible pattern, by day and at night.

Haze

Scattered light that makes the view look milky.

Distortion

Waviness that bends straight lines seen through glass.

Glare reduction

Less squint, more sight.

Glare comes from too much visible light. A film’s Visible Light Transmission (VLT) sets how much passes through: lower VLT means less glare and a darker look.

Advanced film construction

Layer by layer.

From the glass outward: an adhesive bonds the film, functional film layers do the work, and a protective layer faces the room or cabin. Hover the diagram to separate the layers.
